Democratic Donor a No Show at Hearing

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu failed to appear Wednesday for a bail hearing and a judge issued a new warrant for his arrest.

Hsu forfeits the $2 million bail he posted last week.

Hsu’s lawyer said he doesn’t know where his client is.

Umm…mainland communist China?

    hes used to the west. My guess would be the former British protectorate Hong Kong. All the western luxuries(food, water, clothes) and all the commies money can buy.

    It’s not just Cali, it’s the heavily Democratic Bay area. Judges are nominated by local politicos, so there might have been a different result in Orange County or San Diego. I wouldn’t conclude he’s in China, just because he’s Chinese.

    He was a scam artist 15 years ago, and hid in plain sight in Democratic New York. He could be in another Democratic stronghold, like Boston or Chicago. As for his money source, there are some very rich Democrats who chafe at the donation limits.

    If you have lots of cash to shovel toward certain candidates, hiring a slick scam artist to launder it makes sense. (please, SteveF, no Chinese laundry jokes!). There are very few Dems who can afford to kiss off $2 million to protect somebody, though. Any guesses?

    Hey! I resent that. I don’t make dumb jokes on DP, just cheap insults, irrelevant observations, and impractical suggestions. (I save my dumb jokes for the workplace. Got to bring myself down to their level somehow.)

    Lorenzo, not quite. When he first “vanished” in plain sight, it was to Hong Kong.

    My hunch is that when the filthy laundry is finally aired, it will be discovered that the Usual Mainland Suspects were laundering doughnations through Hong Kong and thence to the Tsu-shine Boy and the greedy lefty maws in the US.

    Yeah and it will be swept under the rug like Charlie Trie, the Buddhist Monks, and all the other ChiCom money donars were in the 90s. Now, if the Clintons were Republicans, then we would have a scandal that would make Watergate look like church gossip.
