Just when I think that BDS has finally gone over the top, along comes another raver to take the concept to new levels:
MARTIN LEWIS
General Pace, You Can Save the US - by Arresting Bush for “Conduct Unbecoming”
General Peter Pace
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff
400 Joint Staff Pentagon
Washington, D.C. 20318-0400Dear General Pace,
I note with admiration your courage in making clear your private concerns about the safety of the US military and the longterm danger to US national security caused by the President’s stubborn refusal to acknowledge the quagmire in Iraq.
Though you are Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the President’s principal military advisor - President Bush has shown his disdain for your honesty and wisdom. Though you are a decorated Vietnam war hero - who has served his nation honorably for four decades - the President is dispensing with your services. You have one month left in your position before you are tossed out by the President.
President Bush is going to ignore your advice. Just as he has ignored the advice of other Generals who have had the courage to respectfully point out how terribly wrong he is in respect of the Iraq War and the safety of the US military he is sworn to protect. Highly-decorated colleagues of yours such as General Anthony Zinni (Commander in Chief of U.S. Central Command), General Eric Shinseki (Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army) and General John Abizaid (Commander of the U.S. Central Command).
General Pace - you have the power to fulfill your responsibility to protect the troops under your command. Indeed you have an obligation to do so.
You can relieve the President of his command.
(emphasis in original)
What follows is a tramp through the lower fever swamps of the leftist mind not seen since Seven Days In May. At least in that movie, the coup was being plotted by evil military wingnuts. This dumbass leftard Martin Lewis has decided that the coup should come from the left, because the president won’t listen to his generals.
Lewis shows he is effectively ignorant of how the constitution works, but that doesn’t stop his little jerk-off fantasy. He seriously believes that Gen. Pace actually has an obligation to save the nation by “relieving” the president of his “command.” Of course, being a nutsack, Lewis doesn’t consider the practical angle of first having the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff going completely insane. Or the rest of the Chiefs tying him to his chair after relieving him of his command. Or, if it actually got down to it, the rather large phalanx of humorless Secret Service agents just itching to protect the president from a military take over of the United States.
I just love it when the left puts it’s neofascist wet dreams on record.
The comments are a hoot, with Lewis insisting that he’s not advocating a military coup d’etat. No, he just wants Gen. Pace to relieve the president long enough to subject him to a courts martial. That’s all. No biggie. Besides, Gen. Pace has, uh, a duty and all. Actually, it’s a little tough to figure out just what Lewis is saying in defense of his little screed, what with all the drooling going on.
Sublime moonbattery at its finest… Savor it.

UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers!

Its a shame, Lewising just does not have the same cache’ as Fisking. Otherwise I would say Lewis has taken the prize.
Anybody for a pool on how long this post stays up?
Should the general be so foolish as to try this he would be behind bars or dead within minutes. The only recourse to relieve a President is impeachment any other method is treason. And since there is a State of War, the penalty is Death.
This man is talking treason is the Secret Service or the FBI investigating? they should seize his computers, phones hard drives all discs of any type and search them for information on who might be plotting with him to overthrow the duly elected government. Had a right winger made such a comment about BJ the NYT etal would be screaming for his gonads.(fried in butter with mushrooms)
That’s not quite true. The other method is to declare him incapable.
I forgot, but I believe that can only be initiated by the VP. I know someone will correct me if I’m wrong. The military has no legitimate means of removing a President. Unless that President resists constitution methods of removal from office. Sort of like Aristides did in Haiti. Voted out by the parliament under Haitian constitution refused to leave removed by Haitian military enforcing the parliaments decision. Reinstated illegally by BJ.
The military has no means to remove the President. Even the Commander-in-Chief as the means is fiction as the post is a civilian not military title per the Constitution.
But lets give Lewis his rope. The JCS does haul CIC in a ICMJ. How quick do you think Congress would act to cut off all funding to DoD everywhere? Once that is executed DoD has about 60 days till the pot runs dry. Then what?
The funniest part is him diving into the comments trying to defend himself. At first, I thought this was typical HuffPo “humor,” but this knucklehead is serious… seriously living in the BDS subdivision of Tardoville.
Gee, a week or so ago, in one of my most pessimistic posts in a while, I opined that when the left thought it could win a war to defeat the state, it would start one, but I would expect it to be street action growing into the guerilla tactics so favored by commies. But expecting the military to pull off a coup? I would think the military would be way more loyal than the average citizen.
But maybe it’s not that crazy. This kind of talk gets the more willing agitators excited and surely promotes more unrest from the vast socialist horde.
Then we have a uncivilwar. If he has the backing to try it in the first place he has enough to take out congress. This throws the whole country up for grabs. The troops are told that the senator/representative is a traitor. No unit knows what the others are doing till its too late. Troops and officers desert the Junta forces joing with any of those that survived the purge.
Well Guys like Lewis ought to think a little straighter being a leftist. One of Lenin’s most prosaic sayings was — “There are always two revolutions. The first to bring down the old regime. The second to build the new regime.” Yes, and Karl Rove is still alive.
genes, should the revolution come, being the romantic that I am I would hope most of the rank and file would remember — “I (state your name) do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to the regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. ” — that they took when they assumed the uniform.
If the “revolution” occurs. the President can call out the national militia to defend the United States.
And I won’t need to ask the government for arms or ammo.
This HuffPost writer made the mistake of equating “general” with “general courts martial” (read the UCMJ quotation and you’ll see why he made the mistake, one a sixth grader might not have made) and one of his readers caught this mistake and the idiot conceded, but quickly smothered the mistake by suggesting it wasn’t germain to the thrust of the idea. These people are so stupid, yet they have an equal vote as mine, a fact I have difficulty swallowing. Perhaps they won’t be able to find their polling places is my only solice. BDS has entered the lymph nodes of this idiot.
Since the domestic enemies don’t believe in guns, nor know how to use them…..
I’m rather sure that Pelosi might have the Marin County Sheriff’s department (or at least the leadership). And Ze EEEEEEEEEVIL CHIMPYMCBUSHITLER would have all other forces…..
Things would be over rather fast!
I love how the left calls fascism but they are never punished for their treason. If they were right, they’d be dead, if they were wrong, they’d be idiots…. Yes, yes, I’m, aware that they are idiots!
One of the most important things that should come out of Iraq is a little honesty…is Vietnam a good comparison?
UPDATE (CDJ): Bare site hyperlink removed, as the referenced page had nothing to do with this topic. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that “enewsreference” is a legitimate commenter (looking over past efforts, the question is still open), he, she, or it should be satisfied with the link upon the commenter’s name.
JohnMc, the thing that scares me is that there would be a 50-50 chance on any given day that President Hildebeeste backed by a Democratic Congress will do something that should invoke that oath…. against them.
“I love how the left calls fascism but they are never punished for their treason.”
I love it how the left calls fascism while advocating fascism. I think calling for a military coup is about as fascist as one can get.
One of the things that struck me was is Lewis’s syrupy faux respect for the military, with the emphasis on Gen. Pace’s prior service and his decorations.
It reminded me of Grima Wormtongue.
by a Democratic Congress will do something that should invoke that oath…. against them. — SDN
I could only hope to see Polesi frog marched to the closest federal holding cell!
“Sublime moonbattery at its finest… Savor it.”
In that it echoes the typical Liberal/Dem cant of “Something is wrong, somebody do something”. Somebody, anybody but me. They couldn’t be bothered to piss on their own head if their hair was on fire.
