Bush Takes a Step Away From Maliki - New York Times

WASHINGTON, Aug. 21 — When President Bush and Nuri Kamal al-Maliki stood side by side in Jordan last November, the president proclaimed the prime minister “the right guy for Iraq.”

By Tuesday, that phrase had all but evaporated from Mr. Bush’s lexicon.

Bush isn’t taking a step away from Maliki. As long predicted on this blog, he’s just taking another step closer to the door out of Iraq.

    Just getting the excuses ready… when all hell breaks loose the official line will be “the Iraqis didn’t do enough.”
