Caps on Prices Only Deepen Zimbabweans’ Misery - New York Times
BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe, July 28 — Robert G. Mugabe has ruled over this battered nation, his every wish endorsed by Parliament and enforced by the police and soldiers, for more than 27 years. It appears, however, that not even an unchallenged autocrat can repeal the laws of supply and demand.
Much to the NYT’s apparent dismay, as they chronicle the inevitable end of every Communist tyranny (two words the Times is careful not to mention).
What is worth mentioning is that for many, many years the Times supported Mugabe, long after it had become quite obvious that his “socialism” was really naked communism, pure and simple. But then, the Times has a long, long history of being friendly to the notion of Communism.
