Poll: GOP Likes Giuliani’s Electability | The Trail | washingtonpost.com
Giuliani’s frontrunner status is fueled by a broad-based perception that he is the party’s most electable candidate.
Nearly half of Republicans believe Giuliani is their party’s best chance of winning in November 2008; that is three or four times higher than the percentage mentioning other candidates. Democrats and independents also said Giuliani would represent the Republicans’ best shot at holding onto the White House.
Hell, if electability is the only issue, why don’t Republicans nominate Hillary Clinton? Then they’d be certain to back a winner.

Hell, if electability is the only issue, why don’t Republicans nominate Hillary Clinton?
Jesus, Bill, you nearly made me soil myself. There are probably dimwits in DC who are thinking that this might be a grand idea.
If Hillary were denied the nomination by leftist moonbats and offered the Republican nomination, I think she’d consider it. Her convictions wouldn’t get in the way of “playing” conservative, if that’s what it takes. If ‘Paris is worth a mass’, what’s the White House worth to Hillary?
Geez! I hope we haven’t gone totally over the edge here! Who is insane enough to think that if the dumocrats don’t want her, the republicrats would? We’d be better off with an emporer and get rid of all the satraps that visit DC on the odd occasion under the guise of ‘real work’. Morons!
Fed, there is nothing preventing both major parties from nominating the same candidate. Hillary is a dead cinch for the Dem nomination. If the GOP wanted to nominate her, then her “electability” would be guaranteed, and, if electability were the only issue, then the GOP should nominate her.
I was being bitterly sarcastic, of course, because I think those Republicans squawking about electability (by which they mean a GOP candidate more like the Dem candidates) are dead wrong.
You’ll never win elections by trying to be like the other guy, because people will vote for the authentic other guy before they do your pale copy.
The most successful GOP President of the 20th century was Ronald Reagan. He didn’t achieve that by trying to imitate Jimmy Carter.
Hang onto your sanity, FedUp! Bill was being facetious, and so was I. I think Bill’s point was that there’s more to the choice of nominee than electability, namely principles and conviction. My point was that Hillary’s principles and convictions consist entirely of attaining power. Rest easy, the kids here are alright.
