A Cloture Vote Post - Right Wing News (Conservative News and Views)
11:23: Sherrod Brown and Mitch McConnell. No. We’re going win easy and now the squishes on this subject are breaking our way.
11:25: Holy moly — Voinovich just flipped and voted no.
John Hawkins’ efforts and coverage have been superb.
Update: 53 NO’S — CLOTURE FAILS!
Allah’s on the case. It’s a rout!

53-46, Cloture Goes Down. Amnesty Biil Is Dead. [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
The gang at NRO have done yeoman’s work in helping to defeat shamnesty!

“Virtual” border fence not operative. - By Mickey Kaus - Slate Magazine
Cloture Fails: 46-53. The Grand Bargain doesn’t even get a majority. 8:28 A.M.
But nobody has worked harder or smarter than Mickey to put a stake through amnesty’s heart.

So, I can unload for now?
I’m not sure I should say it, because last time I jumped the gun, but for the second time … congratulations! It was exhausting just watching you guys.
A post listing all squishies would be nice. Squishies include any that offered amendments (like Hutchison), since there was no fixing the abomination of a bill, any that voted for cloture, then agin’ it, e.g. Voinovich, Brownback, etc., and any that voted to allow this bill back on the floor in the first place.
It would also be nice to list those stalwart few who never wavered in their voting against the abomination.
The battle is over, but not the war. Border enforcement must be next because the status quo is a default win for Bush’s shamnesty.
…oh and by the way…
I guess I won’t see Bush at the bill signing. *tee, hee, hee*
For the moment at least, this bill was defeated for the same reason we do not have Justices Meyers and Gonzales, or a “Port Dubai”.
There is hope after all.
Nope, it’s done, Barry. There may be something float to the surface in the House later on, but unless it is an enforcement-border protection only bill, it isn’t going anywhere either.
But a “comprehensive” amnesty by another name approach is now as dead as HillaryCare was after it went down in flames.
I’ll give credit to my junior Senator (Burr, N.C.), he switched votes and help kill that digusting legislation DOA!
Senator Burr, perhaps he saved himself.
David, I cannot figure these guys out. If it had been Dole for the damn thing, I would have believed it. Do you think Burr was just being loyal to Bush?
Look for actual enforcement to get worse. After all, “it doesn’t work!”
I’m reminded of Ambrose Bierce’s line,”The problem with the Christian life is not that it has been tried and found wanting; the problem is it has been found difficult and left untried.”
I don’t know, Barry. It’s possible he was being loyal to Bush. After he voted to bring it back to the floor, I sent him a short e-mail letting him know I was very upset regarding his vote.
Of my two Senators, Burr is usually the more conservative. I would not have put it past Dole to support it, but she was against it from the outset.
Ha Ha! We killed our President’s immigration bill.
We win! We win! U-S-A! U-S-A! Now all of the Mexicans are gone! I’m sorry… what?…they’re not?
Even worse, you’re still here. I think I’m going to have to do something about that.
Dumbass.
When dopes mock, they mock themselves. I try to imagine what it’s like to have an IQ of 70 and be self righteous at the same time, but I fail. The existence of someone like Judson is a mystery. Shouldn’t he implode or explode or something?
Spontaneous decomposition into a puddle of diarrhea. As evidenced by his comments here.
