F. Thompson on Fox
Fred’s long slow dance beginning to get old
If you want to see what the RNC intends, read the snarky little asides Lucy Goldberg posts on the front page of her blog. Goldberg, who is an appendage of the GOP, is always a good conduit into what the Powers of the Party Apparat are really thinking.
And from what she has been posting for the past few months, it is obvious they hate and fear Fred Thompson. I can think of no better recommendation for Thompson’s candidacy.

Why on earth would the Republican establishment fear Fred Thompson? He’s been a Senator and has never been a big rabble-rouser. What policy of his offends them? Are Nixon-backers opposed to him for work on the Watergate prosecution?
Hmmm… There is a difference between reading the tea leaves, and smoking them… I am pretty sure you are doing the latter.
If anything,it’s the republican establishment that’s pushing for Thompson to enter the race.
The Republican establishment is a bunch of Bush-RINOs who aren’t that unhappy to be a minority party. Thompson is a conservative, and conservatives want to win. This disconnect is Rockefeller-Goldwater, Ford-Reagan all over again.
Re Lucy Goldberg: THere are these things, on the INternet, called LINKS….
I think the article is exactly correct. A true Conservative is feared by the old-liners because they could start a new revolution. A lot of these guys survived Newts power sweep by pretending to be one of us. Surviving a second Conservative revolution will be more difficult if not impossible given their recent pathetic positions.
Snitch, you dismal dumbass, I quoted the relevant snark. It was on Lucy’s front page, which I linked to. Yes, she changes that front page ever few hours. But my comment was about Lucy’s front page snark, not about any specific article posted at lucianne.com. So…first, there is no way I know of to link permanently to a Lucy front page. Second, that’s why I quoted it.
Third, we OG bloggers know you’ve been around as long as we have, and you’ve been a drooling, sniggering jackass over the entire period. Nice to see nothing has changed, even as you approach puberty.
I think you are on to something. In an article from April 14 on immigration reform I wrote:
“As a matter of fact it makes one wonder, are there really no worthy conservatives out there to run for office, or does the RNC simply refuse to support any real conservative? A true conservative would be anti-establishment by definition and neither Republicans or Democrats are unhappy with the establishment, they both just want to enjoy the luxury and power that comes with absolute control over it. The nonpartisan resistance to eliminating pork-barrel spending is by far the best example of this.”
“Fred’s long slow dance beginning to get old”
Oh, please. Fred’s “slow dance” is not the problem, the stated and unstated “obligation” of candidates to declare and run almost TWO FREEKIN’ YEARS prior to the election is most assuredly the problem.
The number of debates we have already held is absurd. This eternal and never-ending election cycle is entirely the product of a voracious MSM and punditry, and serves no one well. It fosters the idea that we are deserving of no rest whatsoever from electioneering.
I don’t know if Thompson’s timing is part of a “silent protest” against this horrible trend, but God Bless him if it is. Should a way late entering candidate trounce those who have already spent millions, thus demonstrating that such spending was in fact a waste, I would rejoice.
Our monstrously lame primary system (current evolution) is a whole other post, but in a nutshell, any decision that can help put a lid on this and give us (and our politicians) a year at least to GOVERN instead of eternally running is a good one, and I hope Thompson helps push thing to that end.
Find one of your friends and look over their shoulder at their browser so you can convince yourself that while you may believe you put a link into this blog entry, no such link exists.
The only links that show up courtesy of the dumb content presentation program that produces your HTML are those gay, double-underlined pop ups that jump on-click to some place having nothing to do with your actual content.
Are you really so blithely oblivious to your own HTML that not only are you unable to manage the simple act of HTML linking, but you have to defend it with snark?
Heh. It’s funny because the link is in bold, right at the top.
Anyway, those ad links aren’t gay. I specifically tried to get them to link to gay material during some dust up involving a congressman having hot sex with men, and the link filter didn’t pick it up. To bad, really.
Barge, you are historically easily as big a dumbass as Snitch, as you have just gloriously proved live and in public. Again. Constantly.
Now, FOAD.
Barge, what is it like to be horsewhipped publicly by your own hand?
Do you play high-stakes poker? I’d like to get into the game. But that would be a long line indeed, I suppose. And you would surely be broke by now.
Anyway, thanks for the fun. It’s not often that one can in good conscience watch a lynching.
