Senate illegals bill near complete
Senators and lobbyists are putting the final touches on a comprehensive immigration-reform bill that includes an easier citizenship path for illegal aliens and weaker enforcement provisions than were in the highly criticized legislation that the Senate approved last year.
Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Massachusetts Democrat who ardently supports citizenship rights for illegals, will introduce the bill as early as next week, according to Senate sources knowledgeable about the negotiations. If the Senate Judiciary Committee can make quick work of the bill, it could be ready for floor action in April.
Mr. Kennedy drafted this year’s bill with help from Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, and outside lobbyists.
I wonder if this will be enough to sink McCain’s presidential campaign. For some incomprehensible reason, there’s been an infestation of McCain backers at conservative opinion sites. In any event, it’ll give those dopes another thing they have to explain away.

I think that Us government should continue building the border fence. This will redcue the flow of illegal immigrants and will force the Mexican governement to invest in its own people rather than relying on dollars flowing from America. Closing the border will help both Mexico and the US. I very self explanatory, if the fence is built Mexico becomes a better country. There are lots of people in Mexico who think that they will live all of their life in misery and poverty if they don’t make to the US. I mean if the Chinese are making it for them selves Mexicans should make it too. The chinese learned how to use the caopitalist system, and the mexican right around the corner are still struggling to with their 120 million people. Who has a bigger population/resource ratio, of course mexico does. A better educated Mexico with a stronger economy and does not rely on its people’s migratio to the US will make neighbors happy and will only bring the good for both parties.
Thanks.
That remains to be seen.
