Edwards Blogger Fired?
February 7th 2007 Election08, General

This DP post a few days ago wondered whether the Edwards campaign would turf left-wing blogger Amanda Marcotte for her incendiary statements.

Over at The Corner, Kathryn Jean Lopez said Salon reported that Edwards has now done so. Ms. Lopez provided a link to My DD, where they won’t be happy if the report is confirmed:

The Edwards camp faces a series simple choices right now:

· Are you with the people who work their asses for you, or are you with right-wing extremists who hate you?

· Are you willing to point out the double standards and hypocrisy behind this story, or will you cave to even the mildest pressure from the Republican Noise Machine?

· Do you have any loyalty to the netroots, or was it all just sweet talk, where loyalty actually only flows uphill and shit actually only flows downhill?

But like I said, I am waiting (for a statement by the Edwards camp) before letting loose.

It will be interesting to see if the Edwards campaign has come up with a way to triangulate this – reassigning Marcotte, getting her a juicy gig at the DNC or some other consolation prize to send their contestant away happy.

BTW, I’ve read elsewhere that Edwards is under increasing pressure about his new mansion. Perhaps two negatives breaking in a single week was a bit much, and he’s decided to minimize the one he can. Missus Edwards wouldn’t like the idea of turning the downstairs into a homeless shelter for the next two years.
