Scientists offered cash to dispute climate study | The Guardian | Guardian Unlimited
Scientists and economists have been offered $10,000 each by a lobby group funded by one of the world’s largest oil companies to undermine a major climate change report due to be published today.
Letters sent by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), an ExxonMobil-funded thinktank with close links to the Bush administration, offered the payments for articles that emphasise the shortcomings of a report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
What’s the problem? I’d bet the majority of scientists signing on to this hackwork “report” enjoy similar arrangements with Green think-tanks, foundations, liberal organiations, left-wing political groups, and people “close to” the Clinton-Gore, Carter, and Kerry camps. Why else would they pander away their entire careers and reputations pretending that junk science has any validity?

Scientists are human too and humans are rationalizing animals.
Global warming, like marxism, is a religion. It’s also a way to feel important.
“Why else would they pander away their entire careers and reputations pretending that junk science has any validity?”
Woo told you it was junk science? The right wing mercenary scientists?
I’ve always found it interesting that the ‘believers’ always cite money as the motivator for ’skeptic’ scientists. Apparently the ‘believer’ scientists are eating at soup kitchens, living in residence hotels and collecting soft drink cans to fund their research.
I wonder how many cans one must collect to buy a supercomputer?
