The Rush to Hang Saddam Hussein - New York Times
Of course the hacks at the NYT would think this is a rush. They are accustomed to the American path to execution: Conviction followed by a minimun of twenty years of appeals, retrials, more appeals, and the final Supreme Court stay and Governor clemency dramas.

Rush to hanging? He’s had three years since they pulled him out of the hidey-hole.
Me, I favor ol’ Judge Roy Bean’s timetable:”We’ll give ‘em a fair an’ honest trial, all legal an’ proper - right after we hang the rotten b**t**ds!”
That’s a rush to hanging…
Think of all the ones who got away: Papa and Baby Doc, Idi Amin, Ceasescu (sp?), Milosevic, et.el., plus the ones who still rule. You couldn’t build enough gallows fast enough to kill every murderous thug who ran a country, and, sad to say, Hussein is probably a 5 on any 1 to 10 scale of existing and previous tyrants — more like the Marion Berry of international rogues than the Adolph Hitler. Although Berry didn’t kill anyone (directly).
